The Bac Program, Faculty of Education, University of Regina

The mission of the Bac Program (Bachelor of French Education) is to offer a quality French degree program that accommodates the learning and development of individuals aspiring to teach in first or second-language French schools, such as Francophone schools, French Immersion schools or Core French programs.

The mandate of the Bac Program is to meet Saskatchewan's post-secondary French needs, in terms of teaching in French, by offering students the opportunity to acquire:

• excellent French language capabilities,
• pedagogical methodology and specific subject matter applicable to the context of teaching in a minority setting and in a second language,
• knowledge of subject matter and of language development and minority setting and French-as-a-second-language identities,
• knowledge of more generic pedagogical abilities required of all individuals intending to teach.
