Francofièvre 2008 will take place in Saskatoon Thursday, May 8th
What is Francofièvre? Saskatchewan's largest gathering of Francophone and Francophile youth. A vibrant French-language event! A series of musical groups from across the country, hosts popular among teenagers, DJ performances, light shows, special effects and big-screen projections!
Why was Francofièvre created? To give Saskatchewan youth an intense moment of enjoyment in French and in the Francophone culture, to show them that they are among many youth who can be identified as Francophones and Francophiles, and to give them the opportunity to see, hear and feel that the French fact in Saskatchewan is contemporary, inclusive and dynamic.
How does Francofièvre fit in with the teaching objectives of the schools? The French language and the Francophone culture in Saskatchewan need to be promoted. The objective of Francofièvre is to motivate youth in their learning and to develop their sense of belonging to the Francophone community by creating a major event around the French fact. The show and its influence are intended to increase the feeling of pride among youth who use the French language in their everyday lives, to help them discover a strong and vibrant community, and to develop their leadership in becoming ambassadors for Saskatchewan's Francophone community.
Who is Francofièvre intended for? Grade 7-12 students in Saskatchewan Francophone and French immersion schools.
Where and when will Francofièvre be held? This year, at PrairieLand Park in Saskatoon on Thursday, May 8th, 2008.
How to participate to Francofièvre ? Francofièvre is free and all Francophone and French immersion schools in Saskatchewan are invited to attend. If you wish to inspire your students with the energy and enthusiasm of the Francophone community, register your school right away by filling out the attached registration form.
Canadian Parents for French - Saskatchewan is the organization responsible for registration.
